Student’s Message

Food and Dairy technology is one of the emerging fields of study in Nepal. One cannot neglect the quality and safety aspect of food and dairy products to live a healthy life. So, to get the knowledge on food and dairy technology I joined CAFODAT. From the day, I joined the college, I have been able to quench my thirst and fulfill my curiosity about this subject. The teachers are professional and expert in the subject matter. Hence practical based quality education is provided to students. One can get knowledge on how to preserve food, how to develop quality food products, analyze foods and many more. Indeed CAFODAT is the right choice for my career building.

MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics

Nutrition plays the most significant role for healthy life. Msc. in Nutrition & Dietetics is an emerging subject having global importance and is of great significance to the developing countries where there are disadvantage in socio-economic conditions, poverty and low hygienic standards, Illiteracy, lack of safe drinking water, hygienic food and problems of malnutrition. Nutrition education is the most widely used nutritional measure with the intension of producing changes in food consumption practices for nutrition improvement in the dietary habit. As of now, there are no universities / college for teaching, learning and research in nutritional science in Nepal. Furthermore, numerous medical colleges, nursing homes and hospitals have come into existence since the past few decades but there are very few diet experts. To fulfill the need of such human resource, College of Applied Food and Dairy Technology (CAFODAT), the only one college, has taken initiative by running MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics course for the first time in Nepal affiliated with Purbanchal University.


Objectives and Scope:


• Generate eligible professionals in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

• Meet the current need of nutritionist and dietitian of the nation.

• Help people living in rural area to overcome the malnutrition and nutrition related problems and
diseases.

• Conduct high-level research in the field of nutritional sciences.

• Participate in coordinated community nutrition program with the cooperation of other disciplines
and agencies where feasible and necessary in government, NGO and INGOs.

• Disseminate nutrition advisory and consultancy services and nutrition education to the public.
