Department of Food and Dairy Technology
Welcome to the Department of Food and Dairy Technology.

It is my distinct pleasure to extend warm greetings to all students, faculty members, researchers, and stakeholders of CAFODAT College.
Our department is built on the conviction that agro-based industries are the backbone of our national economic development. We are committed to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation and nurturing skilled professionals who will drive the future of the food industries, regulatory bodies, research institutes and society at large.
Food Technology is a dynamic discipline with many allied subjects that bridges the gap between science and industry. In a world facing global challenges such as food safety and security, nutritional deficits and climate changes; in this scenario our objective is clear: “Technology for Sustainable Development.”
We strive to equip our students with both strong theoretical foundations and hands-on practical skills to address these issues responsibly. We constantly harmonize our syllabus to align with emerging technologies and global standards.
Our department offers specialized programs designed to produce competent leaders in the field:
- Bachelor of Food Technology (B. Tech. Food Technology): This program immerses students in the engineering and scientific principles of food processing, food safety, quality control and assurance. We focus on food chemistry, microbiology, food processing and preservation technologies, and food engineering. Students learn to manage the complex journey of food from raw material to finished product, ensuring safety, quality, and shelf-life stability in an industrial setting.
- Bachelor of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics (B. Sc. FND): This program covers food, nutrition and dietetics with emphasis on Food Science, human nutrition and dietetics. Students explore the scientific composition of food, nutrient retention during processing, development of functional foods, and diet therapy across the life cycle. Graduates learn the science of how food is created, analyzed, formulated, and optimized for health.
Research, Innovation and Alumni
Our distinguished faculty members bring extensive professional experience to the classroom. We encourage interdisciplinary research, industry collaborations, food safety regulatory agencies and community outreach. By integrating modern technologies with traditional practices, we aim to develop practical solutions that are not only innovative but also socially and environmentally sustainable.
